Andy GailWhy I chose MICDS: My family moved from Virginia to St. Louis when I was in 7th grade. After looking at several other independent schools in St. Louis, it quickly became obvious that MICDS was the best fit for me. My experience at MICDS only proved that it was the correct decision.

Most memorable campus moment: There are so many. While I was in Upper School, it seemed like I was practically living on campus. My involvement ranged from helping with the Blue Whale Café, to serving as the Co-Head of the Thespian Society, to leading campus tours as an Admissions Ambassador, to supporting the Athletic Department and my classmates as the Student Athletic Trainer for men and women's Soccer -- the list goes on and on. I loved everything I was involved in at MICDS.

My life today: Since finishing my MBA in 2012, I have been working in product management -- the perfect career that balances my skills. I started my career with Betco Corporation, a chemical manufacturer in Toledo that manages $100 million in products. I later moved to Winchester, Virginia and am now working for American Woodmark, a leading cabinet manufacturer. My education at MICDS prepared me not only for college, but for the professional world. (Check out that sentence pattern! Ms. Good would be proud). I have the ability and confidence needed to learn and adapt to ever-changing market conditions.

Advice to Current Students: Have FUN! Enjoy every minute and have an open mind. I recall some great advice we received during an 8th Grade Assembly when Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Clarence Thomas, spoke to us. He said, "If you want to know what's down the road, ask someone coming back ... someone who has already traveled it. Let them share what they've learned and seen.” I'll never forget this; it's excellent advice to current seniors and all students. Good luck to all of you!

My most recent gift: I've included MICDS in my estate plans. Joining The Eliot & Thompson Society is a way for me to help the school that gave me so much. I also always support the MICDS Fund for annual giving.

Why I give: The education I received at MICDS is priceless. I learned to write well, think critically and creatively, manage time efficiently, communicate, and much more. I felt incredibly well prepared for college and the professional world and am so grateful for my time at this school. It is also a way to say thank you to the world-class faculty and staff that make MICDS so amazing. This is not a typical school. It's a place that's truly changing the world and changing lives, and I'm proud to be an alum.
